Obituary for Boyd Kraft
Boyd K. Kraft, 92, of Decatur, passed away October 17, 2022 at Decatur Memorial Hospital.
Funeral service will be 12:00 PM, Thursday, October 20, 2022 at Brintlinger and Earl Funeral Home, Decatur with Rev. Shane Hartman officiating. Visitation will be 10:00 AM – 12:00 PM, Thursday at the funeral home. Military rites by the Macon Country Honor Guard will be rendered at the funeral home immediately following the service. Burial will be in Nokomis Cemetery. Memorials in Boyd’s honor may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
Boyd was born November 15, 1929 in Detroit, MI, the son of George and Alethea (Kendall) Kraft. He proudly served our country in the US Army during the Korean War. Boyd married Ruth Isdale Sneddon in August, 1984 in Decatur, after chasing her for 30 years. He owned and operated Kraft’s DX Station in Decatur and then went to work for PPG where he worked as a computer programmer for 26 years until his retirement. Boyd and Ruth loved traveling to Fort Meyers, FL. He enjoyed gardening and reading his newspaper every day. Boyd was a life member of Stephen Decatur Lodge #979 A.F & A.M; Golden K Kiwanis and he regularly attended the PPG Dinner Club for PPG retirees. He most enjoyed time spent with his family.
Boyd is survived by his nieces: Edith Marques (David) of Mt. Zion, Debbie Kraft of Decatur, Sherry Hart (Bill) of Decatur; nephew, William Kraft of Pensacola, FL; daughter-in-law, Janet Barker of Decatur; grandchildren: Elizabeth Hartman (Shane), Chad Barker (Sue), Ross Martin (Lisa), Blake Martin (Kathy), Melody Garry and Kim Giarratano; 20 great-grandchildren; brother, Donald Kraft (Erlinda) of Las Vegas, NV; and several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews; 3 great-great nieces and 2 great-great-great nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Ruth; stepson, Kenneth Barker; and brother, Leslie.
