Obituary for Lawrence Staley
Lawrence E. Staley, 80, of Boody, IL, passed away Wednesday, April 26, 2023, at East View Terrace in Sullivan, IL.
Funeral services will be 12:00 noon, Tuesday, May 2, at Brintlinger and Earl Funeral Home, Decatur. Visitation will be 5:00 – 7:00 PM, Monday, May 1, at Brintlinger and Earl Funeral Home, Decatur. Burial will be in Mt. Gilead Cemetery, Decatur.
Lawrence was born July 19, 1942 in Clinton, IL, the son of Otis Guy and Lillian Marguerite (Willock) Staley. He married Mary Ellen Feldman on August 26, 1977 in Decatur, IL.
Lawrence worked for All Tri-R as a welder for 14 years and owned and operated Staley’s Welding in Boody, IL. He was past president at the Sportsman’s Club of Macon County. Lawrence thoroughly enjoyed fishing and could be found fishing anytime he was able. He also enjoyed dancing and loved spending time with his grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Mary; daughter, Shelli Staley of Boody; stepchildren: James Scharnett (Pam) of Decatur, Troy Scharnett (Sheila) of Boise, ID, Gail Venters (Carl) of Decatur, Tanya Connolley (Robert Boriff) of Decatur; grandchildren: Corey Venters (Debbie Ford), Chad Venters (Tess), Rachel Vogel (Nathan), Amanda McPeak (fiancé Mark Henderson), Michael McPeak (Kelli), Jennifer McPeak, Brialynn Boriff, Courtney Boriff, and 10 additional grandchildren; 19 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters: Edna & Donna; brother, Calvin; and daughter, Lisa.
