Obituary for Shannon Banning

Shannon M. Banning, 29, of Decatur, IL, was released from her earthly suffering on May 5, 2023.

A beautiful light, she entered this world on December 17, 1993, to parents Mark Banning and Michelle Baron-Banning. Her smile was pure light and warmth. She thrived in creativity, having a lifelong passion for dance and in later years in fashion, as well as self-adornment. From cosmetics to tattoos she was a walking work of art, continually making new installments, everyone a masterpiece. Shannon’s charisma was extra-terrestrial, never meeting a stranger, connecting with so many people along the way holding a special place in her heart for each and everyone. Traveling, moving, and music are some of the many ways she found new people to share her light with. Among having many passions, she had many aspirations and goals and one of her proudest accomplishments was completing cosmetology school at Paul Mitchell Academy.

Living in her memory are her father, Mark Banning of Decatur, mother, Michelle Baron-Banning of Decatur, sisters: Brook Banning of Decatur and Megan Galligan and husband, Matthew of London, England; nieces and nephews: Audrey, Sebastian, Madeline, and Eliza; aunts and uncles: Jenny (Danny) Evans, Heidi Alexander, Mike Banning, Micki (Chuck) Schutte, and Matt (Veronica) Banning; cousins: Erzsebet Getz, and Nick Alexander; second cousins: Berna Getz, Layla Alexander, and Deliah Alexander.

Welcoming her into peace are her paternal and maternal grandparents, countless friends, and her beloved Kevin.
