Obituary for Sharon Traughber

Sharon L. Traughber, 77, of Decatur passed away peacefully on October 13, 2023 surrounded by her family.

Funeral service will be 11:00 AM, Wednesday, October 18, 2023 at Brintlinger and Earl Funeral Home, Decatur.  Visitation will be 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM, Wednesday at the funeral home. Burial will be in North Fork Cemetery. 

Sharon was born August 26, 1946 in Decatur, the daughter of Robert William “Brownie” and Elsie May (Lenover) Brown.  She married William Traughber on December 30, 1979 in Decatur.  Sharon loved singing and often sang at weddings and funerals.  One of her favorite activities was singing to her grandchild as she rocked him to sleep. Once, he even said “Grannie, don’t sing – I’m not sleepy”.  She loved being a grandma.  Sharon was also known for baking the best cookies, apple pie and cinnamon rolls.  And, she was a master at answering questions on Jeopardy. Sharon was active in her church, Decatur Church of the Brethren, serving in many roles, including church secretary.

She is survived by her husband of 44 years, Bill; stepdaughters: Samantha (Scott) Olson of Decatur and Dena (Tim) Dierker of Ozark, MO; grandchild, Alan Harrison (Kenneth Heiserman); siblings: Rita (David) Coventry of California and Eric Brown of Washington; 2 nephews and 4 nieces.

Sharon was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers; and one nephew.
