Obituary for Valeria Martin
Valeria I. Martin, 91, of Cerro Gordo, IL, passed away on Wednesday, July 5, 2023, at Bement Health Care Center.
Funeral services will be 4:00 p.m, Wednesday, July 12, 2023 at Brintlinger and Earl Funeral Home, Cerro Gordo, IL, with visitation one hour prior to service time at the funeral home. Burial will be in Cerro Gordo Cemetery, Cerro Gordo, IL. Memorials may be made to The Brethren Church of Cerro Gordo.
Valeria was born July 16, 1931, in Decatur, IL, daughter of Clyde and Thelma (Hickman) Parks. She graduated from Cerro Gordo High School and then married the love of her life, Clifton F. “Junie” Martin, Jr. on June 11, 1949. He preceded her in death on August 6, 2016.
Valeria worked alongside her husband as secretary for Martin TV, the family business. She was a member of the Brethren Church where she enjoyed serving and teaching the children. She dearly loved her family and friends; her kindness and compassion were known to all.
Valeria is survived by her daughter, Susan (Tom) Lange of Oakley, IL; her sons, Steven (Diana) Martin of DeLeon Springs, FL, Terry (Jennifer) Martin of Sullivan, IL, nine grandchildren, thirteen great-grandchildren; and sister, Shirley McDermith.
