Obituary for Valerie "Val" Carberry (Greene)
Valerie A. Carberry, 62, of Decatur, IL, passed away surrounded by her family and her best friend on September 16, 2023, at Decatur Memorial Hospital.
The family would like to welcome friends to a memorial visitation from 5:00 – 7:00 PM on Thursday, September 21, 2023 at Brintlinger and Earl Funeral Home in Decatur, IL. Val was born on July 28, 1961 in Wichita, Kansas to Lester and Bonnie (Frick) Greene. She was a graduate of Ben Davis high school in Indiana, class of 1979. She then went on to attend Olivet Nazarene University.
She is survived by her loving children: Rachel Strode (Steven) of Forsyth, IL and Jason Berg (Kristine) of Decatur, IL; two grandchildren: Kayson James Strode and Raelyn Nicole Strode; brother, Ron Greene (Amber) of IN; along with her two nieces: Lilly and Bethany Greene; and her lifelong friend, Christy Hill.
Val had put in 36 years of hard work and dedication in her career at the Clinton Power Plant. In her free time, Val enjoyed gardening, arts and crafts, and traveling. Most of all, Val cherished spending her time with her family, especially her grandkids. She will be truly missed.
She is preceded in death by her parents.
