Obituary for Virginia Alexander

Virginia Alexander, 95, of Decatur, IL, formerly of Smyrna, TN, passed away peacefully Tuesday, November 14, 2023, surrounded by her family.

A visitation will be held from 1:00 P.M. – 2:00 P.M. Friday, November 17, at Brintlinger & Earl Funeral Home, Decatur, followed by a graveside service at 2:30 P.M. at Mt. Gilead Cemetery.

Virginia was born December 13, 1927, in Arkansas City, KS, daughter of William Cecil and Lilly (Anthony) Fryman.  She married Leo R. Alexander on December 30, 1945. He preceded her in death on May 26, 2005.

Virginia was a bookkeeper and office manager for several doctors and Camp Warren Retreat Center.  She was a member of Rock Springs Church of God and Mound Chapel in Decatur, and Franklin Road Baptist Church in Murfreesboro, TN.  Virginia enjoyed gospel music concerts and especially enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren.

She is survived by her daughters: Cecilia Peach (Dick) of Smyrna, TN, Nancy Krieger (Bob) of Decatur, and Teri Meece (Randy) of Decatur; grandchildren: Todd Peach, Jeff Peach, Mark Krieger, Ryan Krieger, Stephanie Booton, Kyle Meece, Lindsay Brunner; several great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.

Virginia was preceded in death by her parents, husband Leo, son James Alexander, brother William Fryman, and sister-in-law Verneal Fryma
